The Independent Missionary Baptist Church was built in the late 1800s and was purchased by a family in 2020 to be renovated into a modern residence. To stabilize the old church building from deflection, architectural tension rods were suspended across the new living space. Accessed by a floating stair, a second floor was added within the tall volume of the sanctuary. This second floor also extends into the volume of the bell tower. The basement was also renovated for a total of 5 bedrooms in the building. Additionally, the project includes exterior refreshing and the planned addition of an accessory dwelling unit.
